The Dawn Of A New Dialogue

Shift Towards Open Dialogue

Recent decades have seen a shift towards promoting open discussions about menstrual health. Some regions have introduced menstruation education in school curricula, offering fundamental knowledge on the menstrual cycle, hygiene, and reproductive health.

Amidst a societal pivot to transparency, women now demand comprehensive insights into their well-being, shattering stigmas that once muted essential health conversations.

Historical Taboos

Menstrual health education has historically been clouded by secrecy and misinformation due to cultural taboos. In many societies, menstruating women were stigmatized or isolated.

Reducing Stigma

These initiatives have helped reduce the stigma associated with menstruation. However, current menstrual health education often focuses solely on basic hygiene and biological aspects, leaving gaps in comprehensive knowledge about hormonal changes, emotional well-being, and broader health aspects.

There's a need for education that covers not only the biological aspects of menstruation but also emotional well-being, hormonal changes, and self-care practices. Existing platforms often fall short in providing both the biological and holistic aspects of menstruation, leaving users without a singular, well-rounded resource for accurate information and emotional support.

  • Deliver accurate and comprehensive information tailored to address identified knowledge gaps.

  • Develop practical strategies that women can implement to manage menstrual health and hormonal imbalances effectively.

2nd Iteration

My success metrics indicated favorable outcomes, including Task Success Rate, Task Abandonment Rate, Error Rate, Task Completion Time, and User Satisfaction. The Femme App performed well across these metrics, reflecting 100% success rates, no errors, efficient task timing, and highly positive user satisfaction.

1st Version

2nd Iteration

Navigating Educational Content

  • Action: I added a back button to the article screen, increased the height of the home bar, and included a home screen active state indicator.

  • Reasoning: While the overall navigation received positive feedback, incorporating a back button and active state indicator aligns with user preferences for smoother interactions, and increasing the height of the home bar allows for a more prominent space on the screen for available actions within the bar.

Using the Premium Account Feature "Health Snapshot"

  • Action: I made the premium block more noticeable on the home screen and explored ways to make the premium block stand out against the "free" screen version.

  • Reasoning: While the “Health Snapshot” feature has strong performance and indicates user satisfaction, enhancing its visibility on the home screen addresses user expectations for a clear distinction between free and premium content.
